BUTTERNUT — Music is one of the most indicative hallmarks of any time period, and the Butternut Area Historical Society has found a fun way to honor the rich, cultural heritage of music in the community with a ‘Name that Tune’ contest at the Butternut Historical Museum starting at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 27 to coincide with Pioneer Days weekend.

The contest will feature local musician and singer, George Faltinosky, on piano. George will play short snippets of popular songs from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. The contestants will have a brief moment to write the name of the song on a sheet before George moves on to the next song. After the entire repertoire is completed, the sheets will be collected and tallied, and the winner will receive a fabulous prize from the Historical Society.

Contestants are encouraged to join George in sing-a-long style as he plays snippets of several songs.

“This is a fun way to remember the past and connect with community members,” said Kelly Meredith, Historical Society board president. “Beverages and refreshments are served. Come on down and enjoy this moment before heading up to Butternut Park for the rest of the Pioneer Days events.”
