Construction hours limited in Boro
POINT PLEASANT — Construction hours have been limited to Monday through Saturday in Point Pleasant Borough. At its meeting on July 15, the mayor and council unanimously passed an ordinance which added hours during which third party contractors “shall not begin before 8 a.m. and be completed by 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.”
Clambake returns to firehouse Aug. 17
BAY HEAD — Residents and visitors of Bay Head should work up an appetite, as the Bay Head Fire Company’s Annual Clambake is returning next month. On Aug. 17, rain or shine, members of the Bay Head Fire Company alongside volunteers will be serving burgers, hot dogs, hot roast beef sandwiches, soda, beer and craft beers, and of course thousands of clams.
TE Ben Rothhaar flips commitment to Rutgers
Rutgers landed another commitment in the class of 2025 today when Ben Rothhaar of Norwalk (Ohio) announced his plans to join the Scarlet Knights. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder was previously committed to Kent State but has flipped to Rutgers. Rothhaar becomes the 30th commitment to the Rutgers 2025 class as he joined the program on a day when the staff was hosting an unofficial visitor barbecue for members of the class of 2026. The class of 2025 commits are expected to be on campus tomorrow.
New shellfish nursery set up in Normandy Beach
BRICK TOWNSHIP — A new upweller location for ReClam the Bay opened up recently at the Normandy Beach Improvement Association, 541 Broad Ave., and will have a crew of volunteers there every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. An upweller is a shellfish nursery, and is a 4 feet by 10 feet tank that contains 10 or 12 siloes with mesh bottoms where the baby shellfish are placed.

HELMETTA/JAMESBURG, NJ - Borough residents will want to mark the calendar for the Jamesburg Police Department's National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6. The Jamesburg Police Department is holding its annual National Night Out from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This family-friendly event features music from DJ Tyler and fun giveaways. Hot dogs, Italian ice, popcorn and more will be served. Chase, the Jamesburg PD's mascot dog, will also be on hand for a meet-and-greet. National Night Out began in 1984 as a way to strengthen the bonds between the community and the police in their unified fight against crime and to improve the relations between officers and the residents living in the towns they serve. The camp is open to male and female basketball players ages 7-15 and is directed by Elizabeth Boys Basketball Head Coach Phil Colicchio. A section of in Neptune Township that houses dozens of people experiencing homelessness may be on its way to shutting down after the property owner filed court papers to force them out, according to township officials. Council approves cut-it-and-leave-it policy
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Pleasant Beach mayor and council approved a resolution supporting a cut-it-and-leave-it environmental policy in the borough, where homeowners are being encouraged to leave grass clippings on their lawns after mowing. This statewide initiative is intended to both save homeowners money on municipal waste pickup as well as divert the clippings away from solid waste streams, according to a press release about the resolution from the Point Pleasant Beach Environmental Commission.
