Beyoncé appears to have been snubbed from this year's Country Music Awards , receiving zero nominations for Cowboy Carter or its singles.

Her single "Texas Hold 'Em" hit number one on the country chart, making her the first Black woman to achieve this feat. It would go on to spend ten weeks in the top spot. Cowboy Carter further had its own run in the number one country albums chart, making it one of the most successful country albums of the year.

As the Hollywood Reporter notes, Beyoncé would have qualified for numerous CMA categories this year, such as album and song of the year. The awards are decided on by Country Music Association member votes, which includes a range of industry professionals.

As for who was nominated this year, Morgan Wallen has the most with seven. A big reason why is his hit "I Had Some Help" with Post Malone , who also forrayed into country music this year — getting four nominations in the process.

After the news emerged, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter collaborator Shaboozey — who was nominated for two CMAs after his own hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" — took to social media to thank Beyoncé for "opening a door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!"

Beyoncé previously performed her song "Daddy Lessons" alongside The Chicks at the CMAs in 2016, which sparked anti-Black backlash . She alluded to the moment when announcing Cowboy Carter , writing on Instagram, "This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive."
