Whether you're a boomer, Gen X'er, millennial, Gen Z'er, or Gen Alpha, you more than likely have fond memories of growing up watching Disney animated and live-action movies.

Of course, we also have so not-so-fond memories of scenes from those films that scared the crap out of us (looking at you, Judge Doom reveal scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit ). Recently, redditor marcus_shitface was curious about those scenes when they asked : "What is the most disturbing Disney movie scene?"

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1aQ8rW_0vtpcE1O00
    Disney

The thread got over 1.4K responses. Below are the best, top, and most-often repeated scenes that creeped people out:

    1. "In Tarzan , when the ape finds Tarzan, you see the crumpled corpses of his parents lying in the corner under some debris."

    Conte_Vincero

    Disney

    2. "When Clayton inadvertently hangs himself in Tarzan ."

    oldeport

"I never realized you can see the shadow of him hanging when the lightning flashes until I watched it as an adult. Super dark for a kids movie."

    ShawshankException

    Disney

    3. "Classic Disney movies? That one scene in Bambi, where the birds are trying to quietly hide in the bushes from the hunter stalking them. One of them begins to panic as he gets closer while her friends beg her not to try to fly. Eventually, she tries to flee, only to be shot down dead and land right in front of said friends."

    Ghoulfriend88

    4. "The 'Hellfire' scene from The Hunchback of Notre Dame ."

    macontosh2000

"It has to be 'Hellfire.' Amazing song, but really disturbing context, especially for a Disney movie. It's an old man singing about how if an underage girl won't fall in love with him, he'll burn her at the stake.

Really, really good song. Really, really disturbing subject matter."

    SteelPenguin947

    Disney

    5. "Quasimodo being roped, attacked, and humiliated in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. That was too much for a kid's movie. Just thinking about it after all of this time makes me feel sad, and I haven't watched it in ages."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3zp9ud_0vtpcE1O00

    ElusiveAnarky

    Disney

    6. "Towards the end of The Great Mouse Detective , when they’re running up Big Ben, Professor Ratigan is growing increasingly more rat-like, running on all fours, fur bursting out of his tuxedo, etc. That and all the jumpscares from his bat henchman. Nightmare fuel."

    7. " Mulan . Specifically, the part where the guys are all singing about what kind of girl they are fighting for, and then all of a sudden, it just cuts to the village that was burnt to the ground. You find out that not only did the Huns wipe out the whole army, but they also slaughtered every man, woman, and child in the village. There are no more musical bits after this scene in the movie."

    Stouty22

    Disney

    8. "It's a classic one: the scene where the Evil Queen transforms into the Old Hag in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs TRAUMATIZED me."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0owIv1_0vtpcE1O00

    Wing-Valuable

"The VHS of Snow White I had as a kid had that scene all destroyed from the amount of times we skipped that bit!!!"

    Delicious-Special945

    Disney

    9. "For me, it's the beginning of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , when Snow White runs into the woods and is terrified by the branches grabbing her clothes, thinking they were hands, and all the eyes around her watching her. I still get anxiety dreams resembling it sometimes, and I'm in my 30s now."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0Pnq82_0vtpcE1O00

    Anorthia

"This isn't even disturbing, this is straight-up horror. From the earnest realness in the woodsman's voice, as he yells at her to flee to the realistic depiction of panic, this fucking terrified me as a kid and still does as an adult — not kidding. I don't like Snow White because this scene creeps me out so much."

    WillemDafoesHugeC

    Disney

    10. "The little shoe going into the Dip in Who Framed Roger Rabbit ."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2A8P1q_0vtpcE1O00

    googooachu

    Disney

    11. "The Cauldron-Born from The Black Cauldron . The original version was so gruesome that they edited it down and reanimated segments, and it was still pure nightmare fuel. Also, not to mention, the Horned King being ripped to shreds, down to his bones, as he's sucked into the Cauldron at the end."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2b2WsZ_0vtpcE1O00

    APeacefulWarrior

    Disney

    12. " Fox and the Hound . When the old lady leaves Tod in the woods. Triggers my abandonment issues. I still can't watch.

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3p4VkE_0vtpcE1O00

    jadedhoney88

    Disney

    13. "In Fun and Fancy Free , when Donald turns into a lunatic and grabs the axe off the wall."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1DaLQv_0vtpcE1O00

    fegero

"I remember a pretty old Disney movie with the three icons (Goofy, Mickey, and Donald) growing a bean stock. There was a scene where they were so hungry that they had to cut a bean into thin slices to split the remaining food they had. Then Donald Duck saw it and went mental, smashing everything in the house. Goofy and Mickey had to restrain him while they lamented about their situation.

That was quite a disturbing scene, like something out of Suspiria. "

    Don_Fartalot

    Disnwy

    14. "The Toaster's nightmare with the fireman clown was the part in The Brave Little Toaster that terrified me. When I was little, I would leave the room for that part."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=44yl6A_0vtpcE1O00

    EyeoftheRedKing

    Disney

    15. "In The Brave Little Toaster , when the air conditioner malfunctioned/blew up, his eyes and the fire. It scared me for years."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0sCiVO_0vtpcE1O00

    Achillez4

    Disney

    16. "In Pinocchio , the donkey scene. It's been decades since I have seen it, and the streak is not coming to an end anytime soon."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1TBxnl_0vtpcE1O00

    Jaxonian

"I can still hear his painful terrified screams as he begs Pinocchio to 'CALL SOMEBODY, CALL ANYBODY!!! MOMMA!!! MOOOOMMMMAAAA!!!'

I had nightmares for years, and that's probably the only Disney movie my kids aren't allowed to watch."

    Obvious-Orange-4290

    Disney

    17. "In The Princess and the Frog , when Dr. Facilier gets dragged to hell by the spirits."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2ktnwa_0vtpcE1O00

    ward_bond

"I refused to watch that movie after a few times because I was terrified of that scene."

    Saphira2002

    Disney

    18. "I'm nearly 40, and I still have PTSD from the fucking Walrus luring and eating the baby oysters in Alice in Wonderland . Fuck that."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2luOHf_0vtpcE1O00

    wreckfish

    Disney

    19. "The scene in The Incredibles (2004) where Mr. Incredible logs into Syndrome’s computer and discovers that basically all the world’s superheroes have been systematically murdered by one man by luring them out to a secluded island and making them fight the Omnidroid. This is foreshadowed in an earlier scene, where Mr. Incredible and Frozone have a conversation about never seeing their old friends anymore. These people were their friends, who have now been wiped out one by one. Syndrome may be one of the most evil villains in the Disney universe."

    No_Property_2334

    Disney/Pixar

    20. "The T-Rex mauling the Stegosaurus in Fantasia . Added bonus: If this wasn't enough kids, then get to see all the dinosaurs starve to death."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2AUI77_0vtpcE1O00

    fruitboot33

"Yeah. The whole scene was so bleak, so hopeless. The world was ending. The dinos walked, but we know there is no hope to be found. And then the fight, with the bigger, stronger dino killing the underdog — and the underdog dino trying to make one last attack...but dies. Damn, that's harsh."

    Common-Wish-2227

    Disney

    21. "When Maximillian killed Anthony Perkins' character by drilling through the book he was holding. Or when you learn what really happened to the crew of the U.S.S. Cygnus . The Black Hole is an effed-up trip that I shouldn't have watched at age 7."

    EvilFin

    Disney

    22. "I remember being creeped out by the scene in Hercules where he's diving into the River Styx to save Meg and ages rapidly while the souls swirl around him."

"This scene caused me to have recurring nightmares for 6-plus years."

    ButterMyBiscuits96

    Disney

    24. "The ending of The Lion King, when the hyenas eat Scar alive. In his final appearance, they managed to make Ed, otherwise a comic-relief character, downright nightmarish."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=28jGBh_0vtpcE1O00

    Heroic-Forger

    Disney

    25. "I really hate the scene where the Wicked Stepsisters tear at Cinderella’s dress. It is mild in comparison to a lot of these, but it is also scarily realistic."

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0UrCf6_0vtpcE1O00

    spartnjohn

"I think the most evil moment in any Disney film is when the Stepmother manipulates them into this action. They are acting at her impulse. It’s the most disturbing to me precisely for the reason you said, it is disturbingly real."

    RedDirtPreacher

    Disney

    26. "In Return to Oz , that scene of the hallway of served heads always creeped me out as a kid."

    27. And lastly, " Toy Story 3 , when they’re all stuck in the incinerator, spiraling towards the fire, and all they can do is surrender to it and say their goodbyes…sheesh!"

The one that tears me apart was in Dumbo, where they put Dumbo's mom on a small, crowded cage as punishment for supposedly attacking on people in the circus. All she was doing was protect her poor baby from those bad kids who were pulling his big ears!!! It's just so unfair!!!😢.

I loved Roger Rabbit. But that shoe scene was always hard to watch, and you feel for that little shoe.
