When I was a child, I was annually plagued with laryngotracheobronchitis. But since nobody has time to say that word, we'll use the more common term "croup." You could set your watch by it. In my pre-school days, I spent a good deal of time each year in what's known as a "croup tent." There I was, laying in bed, surrounded on four sides by kitchen chairs and covered with a blanket. My only company inside the makeshift enclosure was a humidifier and Vick's Salve. And that "croup cough" was a beast. It hurt; it sounded like a dog barking; and it was alarming to anyone who could hear it but couldn't see me.

Two Indicted For Making False Reports
Two Mercer County residents have been indicted on multiple counts of filing false reports over the past year. Dakota L. Milton, 21, and Anastasia M. Wellbaum, 23, both of 851 South College Street No. A12, Harrodsburg, were indicted by the Mercer County Grand Jury last week on multiple class D felony counts of filing false reports which generated an emergency response in 2024.
TRF Holds 'Stallions for Second Chances Halter Auction'
The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) will host an online 'Stallions for Second Chances Halter Auction' beginning Saturday, July 27 at 8:30 p.m. ET and concluding the evening of Saturday, Aug. 3.
