Fond du Lac County house fire, contained to garage, originated near charging hoverboard

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – All occupants and pets made it safely out of a town of Byron house after a fire started in the attached garage July 9.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded at around 10:42 p.m. Tuesday alongside Oakfield Fire Department and First Responders, Lamartine Fire, Town of Fond du Lac Fire, RIT 4 and MED 21 Fond du Lac Fire.

The fire departments extinguished the fire quickly before it was able to spread beyond the garage and breezeway to the house.

A vehicle and riding lawn mower in the garage were damaged from the fire, and some of the items inside the structure are believed to be a loss. The living quarters of the house had minor amounts of smoke.

Investigators believe the fire started along the southwest wall of the garage, next to a hoverboard that was charging, and do not consider the fire suspicious.
