Canon City PD recovers fentanyl, meth, & heroin during traffic stop
CANON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Canon City Police Department (CCPD) reported Tuesday that they recovered a large amount of narcotics during a traffic stop in May. The CCPD said a traffic stop was conducted on the night of May 26, 2024, at 9th St. and Whipple Ave. The driver was identified as 34-year-old Angelina Madison. She was driving on a suspended license, police said.

Safe Routes to School Grant
Sidewalk upgrade and repair work is scheduled to begin along North 9th Street on Monday, July 8, 2024. The project will see the installation of ADA compliant sidewalk ramps and repair of the sidewalks along 9th Street, primarily in the area between Washington Avenue and Clover Avenue. The project is expected to have minimal impacts to traffic, with work primarily completed by closing the parking areas along 9th Street and the side streets. Short duration closures of driveways and side street approaches will be needed to allow time for sidewalk concrete to cure. Work is scheduled to take roughly three to four months to complete.

Cañon City man gets 30 years for fatally shooting father
The Cañon City man who admitted to authorities of fatally shooting his father in the back of the head while he was sleeping was sentenced to 30 years in the Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and admitting to a crime of violence Tuesday in Fremont County District Court.
Traffic stop leads to seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin
A traffic stop at Ninth Street and Whipple Avenue led to the seizure of illegal narcotics. A Cañon City police officer on May 26 pulled over a vehicle driven by Angelina Madison, 34, who was found to have had a suspended license. According to a media release, during the traffic stop, an open-air sniff was conducted by the CCPD K9, Kasio, who alerted to the vehicle, indicating the possible presence of narcotics. Officers subsequently searched the vehicle and located 1,641 fentanyl pills, 105.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 5 grams of black tar heroin.
