14-year-old West Virginia boy bitten by shark in North Carolina
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A 14-year-old boy from West Virginia was bitten by a shark as he was swimming at a beach in North Carolina. Blayne Brown of Cabell County, West Virginia, was bit on the leg and ankle by a shark at Topsail Beach Access No. 4 in Pender County, North Carolina, on Sunday, The Herald-Dispatch reported. The boy was reportedly swimming in waist-deep water at around noon with a friend when he was bitten. Brown was about 30 or 40 feet away from the shore, the newspaper reported. Cabell County teen home, recovering after NC shark attack
SALT ROCK — A Cabell County teen returned to his Salt Rock home Tuesday to begin his recovery after being attacked by a shark at Topsail Beach, North Carolina, on Sunday. Fourteen-year-old Blayne Brown said he is grateful for the beachgoers who provided him proper medical attention when he was bitten on the leg and ankle at Topsail Beach Access No. 4.
County Commission OKs two Barboursville precincts' location change
HUNTINGTON — The Cabell County Commission approved moving two Barboursville voting precincts during its regular meeting Thursday. Residents registered to vote in precincts 47 and 48 at Davis Creek Elementary School in Barboursville will now relocate due to the school’s move this summer to its new building at 1400 River View Drive, directly next to The Village at River View assisted living facility and an EMS station.
FEMA to open Disaster Recovery Center in Cabell County
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Disaster Recovery Center will open for Cabell County residents on the first of July, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The center will be located at Christ Temple Church at 2400 Johnstown Road in Huntington and will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3. FEMA staff will be on site to assist those effected by the storms in early April.
