Grant Funded Shopping Spree for Boys and Girls Club of the Northland
DULUTH, Minn.– School will be in full swing soon enough. And one local organization received a grant for that special time of year. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northland paired up with Kohl’s to help them with school supplies this fall. Since 2019, Kohl’s has partnered up with the organization, supporting the youth across the nation. The Duluth Boys and Girls Club was selected and received a $2,000 grant. The retail store had an event Monday where organizers shopped for the things they need. The work they are doing is noticed by the kids.

Birchwood Bobcat Riders host women’s ride
On Monday approximately 70 women from the local area and as far away as Duluth and Beloit completed the first-ever “Girlie Ride" of the Birchwood Bobcat Riders Snowmobile and ATV Club. Organized by club member Charleen Shakman with her husband Ben providing backup support if needed, the women left Birchwood on 38 ATVs and UTVs and completed the 50-mile Birchwood loop in under six hours. Leaving from the Synergy Store in Birchwood the riders made stops at both the Chit Chat Bar and Grill and Spider Lake Saloon before ending the ride at Mary’s Bluegill in Birchwood. Given the success of the event another ride is likely in the offing.

Man suspected of providing drugs in overdose death appears in court
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Holcombe man charged with providing drugs that resulted in a fatal overdose appeared in court Monday. Casey C. Schueneman, 43, 25120 260th Ave., and Crystal K. Crouse, 36, of Conrath, were each charged in April in Chippewa County Court with first-degree reckless homicide — party to a crime, along with bail jumping. Schueneman’s charge specifically included delivery of drugs; Crouse’s charge does not have that provision. She is slated to return to court on July 31. ...
