The Cabool Police Department handled calls and incidents recently, including several accidents.

The department reported 12 traffic stops resulting in six summons and six warnings issued. Two arrests for non-traffic offenses were made.

At 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, Valerie Cooper, 43, of Cabool, was riding a bicycle in the westbound lane of U.S. 60 when Cooper changed lanes into the path of a 2018 Buick driven by Zachary Cappel, 23, of Springfield, authorities said. Cooper refused medical treatment.

At 10:10 p.m. Thursday, July 11, officers responded to an accident near the 300 block of Summit Street. According to police, a 2005 Buick driven eastbound on Summit Street by Wesley Scott, 52, of Cabool, ran off the left side of the road and struck a fire hydrant. Scott then drove to his residence without notifying authorities, police said. Scott was issued a summons for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

At 9:58 a.m. Sunday, July 14, officers responded to the area of Victory Worship Center on U.S. 63 for a call of aggressive dogs. The dogs were identified as belonging to Catherine Nash, who authorities said has received multiple warnings for dogs running loose. Nash was issued a summons for allowing dogs to run loose, possessing more than four dogs, no dog/cat license and operation of a kennel without a permit.

In total, police handled two accidents, eight animal complaints, six civil matters, one domestic violence call, one impaired subject incident, three peace disturbances, one property damage/vandalism incident, one stealing/theft incident, two suspicious activity incidents, assisted other agencies nine times, gave one private escort, assisted the public 13 times and made one warrant arrest.

The fire department was dispatched 12 times.
