Two young men who had been best friends since kindergarten and always told each other 'I love you' when they met died in a horror crash as they drove to a Cardinals game. Teagan Kelley and Ashton Jackson had been friends since they could walk and were on Highway 15 in Cahokia Heights, Illinois when their car hit another and they smashed into a light pole .

Teagan, 20, died at the scene while Ashton, also 20, was raced to hospital and put on life support before his family had to make the devastating decision to turn the machines off.

Speaking to KSDK , Teagan's mom Mindy said: "They were a part of each other's daily routines. They are 20 years old, and they never got off the phone without saying, 'I love you.' They just had a bond that couldn't be broken." She added: "They were inseparable. If Teagan wasn't here at Ashton's house, Ashton would be at my house. We shared holidays. We went on many vacations together."

Ashton's mom Sabrina said: "We know that even though the boys aren't here anymore, they are our family. And Teagan was our son, just as much as Ashton was theirs. We love them."

The heartbroken mother revealed her son was able to help save two lives through organ donation. "One of his kidneys went to a lady out in St. Louis, and another kidney went to a 16-year-old boy in Indiana. His legacy hopefully will continue," she said:

In a heartbreaking post on GoFundme the family of Ashton said: "Ashton had an infectious smile, bubbly personality, and gave the most awesome hugs which can still be felt by everyone. He always lit up the room when he walked in! Ashton and Teagan were inseparable and now they have each other in heaven. The void the two of them made in our lives could never be filled.
