The Caledonia/Houston/Spring Grove gymnastics squad took part in the gymnastics section tournament hosted by Rochester John Marshall High School on Saturday, Feb. 17. The squad did not pierce the top five teams for the tournament, but it did have a few athletes take All-Section honors for their performances throughout the season for not only the beam and floor events.

Caledonia scored 128.975 as a team, good for sixth place out of eight teams.

As for individual scores, in the all-around, Paizley Lange had the highest score of 32.725 and Harper Myrah was close behind with 32.650.

On vault, Paizley Lange led for the Warriors with 8.675, followed by Tyla Halverson with an 8.600.

On bars, Paizley Lange once again led the squad with a score of 7.625, followed by Harper Myrah with a 7.200.

On the beam, Harper Myrah led the team with an 8.725 and Paizley Lang followed close behind with an 8.675.

Lastly, on the floor, Madelyn Foellmi and Harper Myrah both scored highest for the team with an 8.225, followed by Tyla Halverson with an 8.100.

Based on season scores, Paizley Lange, Harper Myrah, Sabrina Lisota, and Vivian Kittleson all earned All-Section honors for the beam event, and Kittleson also received those honors for the floor event. On top of that, Caledonia's assistant coach Kaylee Cavanaugh, was voted the Section 1A Assistant Coach of the Year.

Coach Savana Becker had this to say about the section meet: “Overall, as coaches, we are very happy with our season. We did not end quite the way we hoped. We had a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes at sectionals and an injury on the second event but we are proud of how the other girls rallied and stepped up. Most notable is that Paizley Lange got 6th and Harper Myrah got 5th on the balance beam. These athletes have been working so hard and they have really been honing their skills at practice so it was good to see their hard work pay off. Kaylee Cavanaugh was voted the Section 1A Assistant Coach of the Year. This honor is well deserved, as she has really been a rock for the athletes this season. We are already looking ahead to next season. Go Warriors!”
