The Warriors baseball squad won three out of three this week, especially impressive during a particularly windy home game against Dover-Eyota on Friday, April 12.

The Warriors also had away games against Fillmore Central on Monday, April 8 and against Lewiston-Altura on Tuesday, April 9.

    Home opener against Dover-Eyota

In the home opener, the Warriors faced off against Dover-Eyota during a windy rendezvous with Garrett Konz on the mound to start the game.

Konz showcased the depth of the Warriors' pitching with a huge day. It is safe to say that the Warriors' pitching had a huge week. Konz went 6⅔ innings, only allowing one hit and one earned run, and striking out 13 batters.

The largest scoring inning of the game came in the third for the Warriors. After walks by Landon O’ Heron and Tanner Ginther (No. 3), Konz knocked in two runs to start the rally via a single to center field.

After a walk, a hit by pitch and a walk by Hunter Goetzinger, Ben Stemper and Drew Yahnke respectively, Owen Denstad (No. 7) hit a double to left center, scoring both courtesy runner Jack Schmitz and Stemper, and advancing Yahnke to third base. Yahnke would eventually score on a ground ball by Allen to the Eagle shortstop to make the score 6-0.

The Eagles scored once in the fourth and fifth innings, but that was the extent of their offensive production for the day, with Konz leaving the game in the seventh and Reid Klug getting the final out via strikeout to give the Warriors their third win of the week.

Top performers at the plate for this outing included Konz going 2-4 with 2 RBIs, Denstad going 2-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 BB, and Stemper who went 2-2, with 1 RBI and a walk as well.

This improved Caledonia to 4-1 on the season, coming after two road wins earlier in the week.

    Fillmore Central

Against the Fillmore Central Falcons, Reid Klug (No. 19) started out on the mound and had a fantastic day, with a three-hit complete game, while striking out 11 batters in the endeavor. The only run by the Falcons came in the seventh inning. The Warriors won by a score of 7-1.

Caledonia scored twice in both the first and seventh innings, and once in the second, third and fifth innings as well. Top performers at the plate included Drew Yahnke (No. 5), who went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, Garret Konz (No. 25) who also went 2-4, and Will Allen (No. 10) at 1-3 with 2 RBIs.

    Lewiston-Altura

Against Lewiston-Altura, Landon O’Heron (No. 14) took the mound and followed up the previous game with an equally great performance, going 5 innings with four hits, seven strikeouts and one walk, with no earned runs allowed. Allen followed up in the sixth inning, allowing only one hit, and striking out two in order to secure the 10-run rule victory over the Cardinals at 10-0.

In this game at the plate, top performers included Ben Stemper (No. 24), who went 2-3 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs, Hunter Goetzinger (No. 4) going 2-3 also with a double, and Reid Klug 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base.

The Warriors were set to face off against Blair-Taylor at home on Monday, April 15, then at St. Charles Tuesday, April 16, followed by a doubleheader at Rushford-Peterson Friday, April 19.
