The Caledonia Warriors baseball team had an abrupt end to a 19-win season, losing to Cannon Falls 4-2 on Saturday, May 25, and to Randolph 4-2 as well on Monday, May 27 in the section tournament.

    Against Cannon Falls

At home, Garrett Konz took the mound and went six innings, giving up four earned runs and striking out six. Cannon Falls would strike immediately in the first inning, scoring two runs on a wild pitch and a single.

Hunter Goetzinger put the Warriors on the board with a double and batting in a run. Drew Yahnke added another on a fielder’s choice groundout to even the score in the bottom of the third inning.

Konz held strong after the first inning, but would surrender two more runs in the top of the 6th inning. The Warriors did not overcome the lead in the last inning and fell to Cannon Falls by a score of 4-2.

Top batters for Caledonia included Goetzinger who went 3-4 with one run batted in, and then followed by Tanner Ginther and Garrett Konz with one hit a piece.

    Against Randolph

Landon O’Heron started for the Warriors against the Rockets. O’Heron went all seven innings for the outing. He gave up four runs but also struck out seven in the game.

The Warriors came out in the bottom of the first inning by scoring two runs, once again off a Goetzinger double, and a tag up on a line drive by Yahnke. After the initial scoring, the Warriors struggled to put together more offense as the Rockets scored four runs in the top of the third inning.

They would hold the lead for the rest of the game, and the Warriors lost by a score of 4-2.

Leading hitters in this game include Ginther, Konz, Goetzinger, Ben Stemper, and Reid Klug — all with one hit a piece during the game.

The Warriors finish the season with an overall record of 19-3, after earning the No. 1 seed in the section tournament and earning a conference championship.
