White Plains softball keeps on winning … and keeps on going through coaching transition.

Lex Muncher won’t return after one season as the Wildcats’ head softball coach, White Plains principal Andy Ward confirmed. The school now seeks its fourth head softball coach in four years.

“Coach Muncher will not be returning to coach the WP softball team for the 24-25 school year,” Ward said. “I appreciate everything Coach Muncher did for our girls the last two seasons.

“Pending board approval, a new softball coach will be named at Friday’s board meeting.”

The Wildcats finished 28-16 in 2024, Muncher’s first season as head coach. Slugger Callie Richardson suffered a knee injury at the East Regional, and the Wildcats bowed out after a 2-2 stay.

White Plains earned its first state tourney berth in four years in 2023, finishing 31-16 in Tiffany Williams’ lone season as head coach.

Williams replace Rachel Ford, who retired from coaching after producing the best run in program history.

White Plains is set to lose graduating seniors Cassidy Arnold, Addi Bradley, Cooper Martin, Braeton Moran and Halie Smith. The returning group includes Richardson and Leighton Arnold.

“We will certainly miss the group of seniors that are graduating, but we have a great group of girls returning and expect big things from them,” Ward said.
