Oxford, AL – The Oxford Alabama Public Library is excited to announce the kickoff of its Summer Reading Program with a special event featuring the dynamic Miss Calliope. The event will take place on Friday, May 31st, at 2:00 PM at the Oxford Public Library, located at 110 E 6th Street, Oxford, AL 36203.

The program, titled “From the Soil to the Stars,” is a 50-minute educational and entertaining show designed to engage children and families in a musical earth science adventure. Miss Calliope’s performance includes a blend of environmental awareness, singalongs, and dance-alongs, aiming to inspire attendees to embrace their uniqueness and shine brightly in their communities.

“From the Soil to the Stars” is crafted from a series of songs that encourage participation and promote a message of self-worth and environmental stewardship. One of the highlighted themes of the program is encapsulated in the lyrics, “You are a Star, you know that you are, your light travels far, and that makes you a star!” This message underscores the library’s goal to foster a sense of community and individual empowerment among its patrons.

The event is free and open to the public, welcoming everyone in the community to join in the fun and educational experience. It promises to be an engaging afternoon where children and families can learn, sing, dance, and connect with one another.
