Piedmont, AL – The annual Chief Ladiga Marching Festival, hosted by the Piedmont Band Boosters, is set to showcase the region’s most talented high school marching bands on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The event will begin at 12:00 PM at the Piedmont High School stadium and promises a day full of music, precision, and showmanship as bands compete for top honors in various categories.

This year’s festival will feature an Olympic-style judging panel with a lineup of renowned experts, including Melvin Morgan, Jill DeGaetano, Gene Inglis, Nathan Haskew, and one judge yet to be announced. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of experience in band performance, ensuring a high standard of evaluation. The percussion section will be judged by David Coheley, the drum major performances by Damien Gaiters, guard by Jena Goosby, and the dance/majorette category by Brenda Morgan.

Bands will be rated on a scale ranging from Superior (I) for scores of 85 and above, Excellent (II) for scores between 65 and 84.5, and Good (III) for scores of 64.5 and below. These ratings will be awarded based on the bands’ overall performances in music, marching, percussion, drum major leadership, guard, and majorette dance routines.

The Chief Ladiga Marching Festival is an exciting event for band enthusiasts and the community alike, offering a chance to witness young musicians and performers at their best. The Piedmont Band Boosters encourage everyone to come out and support the bands as they take the field in pursuit of excellence.
