United Way and City of Anniston Open Warming Stations This Week

Anniston, AL – With temperatures expected to drop in Anniston this week, United Way of East Central Alabama, in partnership with the City of Anniston, has opened warming stations to provide shelter for those in need. The stations will be activated when temperatures are forecasted to reach 36 degrees or below for at least two hours, according to reports from the National Weather Service (NWS). Admission to the warming station ends nightly at 9:00 PM CST.

The warming station, located at The Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church (1400 Noble St, Anniston, AL 36201), aims to offer warmth and safety during extreme cold. In addition to cold temperatures, the station also considers other inclement weather conditions, such as rain, to ensure the comfort of those relying on its services.

This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of the United Way of East Central Alabama, the City of Anniston, and several local organizations, including Anniston First United Methodist Church, Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, MeMe’s Heart, and His Hands and Feet Ministries. A similar cooling station is activated during periods of dangerously high temperatures.
