Longtime Union Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday with Family and Friends
UNION, NJ - Family and friends gathered together on Saturday to celebrate the 100th birthday of longtime Union resident Mary Izzo. Izzo was born on July 17, 1924. She moved from Newark to Union in 1965. She raised five children and became a consummate volunteer, including as the town's Girl Scout troop organizer, as the leader of Troop 588 for twenty years, and as a Washington Rock Girl Scout delegate. Search continues for man who went missing in Delaware River
Police and rescue workers are still trying to find a man who witnesses said may have drowned Saturday afternoon in the Delaware River. Dive teams and rescuers in boats searched the area near the Easton wastewater plant, where multiple witnesses saw the man disappear under water around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Pennsylvania Water Rescue Chief Branden Bachman.
