Have You Been to Utzutzu? A Personal Take on Alameda's Exclusive Omakase

Tucked away on the second floor in Alameda, Utzutzu is a hidden gem that offers an intimate omakase experience that feels both exclusive and welcoming. With only 7-8 seats available, the ambiance is minimalistic and focuses on Japanese aesthetics, providing a personal touch to the dining experience. The service is attentive, ensuring that each course flows smoothly into the next, from the refreshing Black Goma-Ae to the delicate Mango Shiso Sorbet. Each dish showcases the chef's skill and the freshness of the ingredients, especially the seafood which includes a variety of nigiri from opah to spot prawn.

The highlight of my visit was the variety of flavors presented in each course. The Uni Chawanmushi was particularly memorable, with its rich flavors complemented by the texture of shitake and spinach. The sequence of nigiri, including the scallop with citrus and the marinated mackerel, was expertly crafted, each piece offering a unique taste profile. Despite some dishes like the otoro not hitting the mark as expected, the overall experience was a journey through exquisite tastes and meticulous presentation.
