Shocking Video Shows 'Massive Sea Creatures' Breach Off California Coast

A few lucky individuals were able to witness a pair of giant humpback whales "putting on a show" in their natural habitat during a sailing expedition on May 7th.

According to Miami Herald , author Michael Hodges and "several marine biologists" witnessed the miraculous event and even captured photo and video footage of the whales in action. Hodges shared these magnificent clips on social media , describing the expedition in its entirety.

"We were out at sea for hours, in big waves, eyes eagerly scanning the horizon for just one glimpse. I had two expert marine biologists on my team. On the horizon, I noticed a distortion, thinking perhaps it was the exhaust from another ship. It was the breath mist of a giant humpback whale. I'd never seen a whale before. And when the two giant humpbacks fully breached and spun in the air, I was speechless, as were my biologist friends. One of the best days of my life. Grateful for another epic California trip, a land of such diversity and beauty. "

Hodges concluded by referring to the unexpected sighting as an "honor."

Aside from an Instagram photo, Hodges also shared video footage to Facebook that depicts the whales enjoying a lovely spring day as they swim in and out of the water with their tales in the air near the boat.
