California‘s Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco endorsed former President Donald Trump on Saturday.

Bianco admitted in his Instagram post that he has long criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), Attorney General Rob Bonta, and the state legislature for changing and upholding new laws that are soft on crime. He lamented that these three give law enforcement the reputation of having a “bias” and allow convicts to return to California complete with food, housing, drugs, and alcohol.

“I’m getting tired and I’m wondering if I’m having a change of heart and deciding that, you know what, I’ve been wrong and I think I’m gonna change teams. I know it’s gonna make some of you angry,” Bianco said in the video. “I think it’s time that instead of letting them out of jail and giving them alcohol and drugs and everything else, I think it’s time we put a felon in the White House. Trump 2024, baby. Let’s save this country and make America great again.”

Bianco’s reference to Trump as a felon was in connection with the former president’s conviction in New York City on 34 counts of falsifying business records earlier this week. Since the jury handed down the verdict, Trump has not halted his presidential campaign.

The video has since received nearly 54,000 likes. Bianco has served as sheriff for five years and worked in law enforcement for 30 years. He is next up for election in 2026.

While Trump is facing another 54 charges from prosecutors nationwide, this is likely the only criminal trial that will issue a verdict before Election Day. Trump is expected to appeal the decision, but it is unlikely that a federal appellate court can issue a ruling before the election.
