An iconic Hollywood staple officially closed its doors for good on Saturday (June 15), marking the end of a legendary era. According to KTLA , the Arby’s Roast Beef restaurant located at 5920 Sunset Boulevard officially shuttered after 55 wonderful years, offering a sentimental "farewell" to their dedicated customers as displayed on the sign out front.

The well-known fast-food joint opened on January 5th, 1969, and has remained a Sunset staple all these years. 91-year-old Marilyn Leviton was the first and only person to own the restaurant. She candidly spoke to KTLA about why the location had to close after nearly 6 decades in business.

“Truth is, I think it was the pandemic that did us in. I really feel we would have closed during the pandemic [if it weren’t] for the federal loans. I’m awfully sorry that it came to this. I think we did a good job for 55 years.”

Leviton cited California's new minimum wage law as one of the factors that led her to close the beloved Arby’s Roast Beef for good. The popular fast-food chain location is not the first restaurant to shutter as a result of "rising cost of doing business." San Diego-based standout Rubio’s Coastal Grill closed nearly 50 locations across the state last month for the same reason.
