Gavin Newsom will do anything other than his job

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) will do anything these days to avoid actually doing his job and trying to reverse California’s decay .

Newsom jetted off to Pennsylvania to campaign for President Joe Biden on Friday, trying to save Biden’s floundering campaign after it was made clear that the president cannot function in unscripted interactions.This continues Newsom’s long-running obsession with states that aren’t his, highlighted by his tour of red states that are performing far better than California, which has seen residents and businesses flee the state during Newsom’s tenure, crippling the state’s budget.

When he isn’t shirking his responsibilities by leaving the state, though, Newsom is going to be shirking them in California as well. Newsom announced that he would be launching a podcast with former NFL star (and Oakland native) Marshawn Lynch and Lynch’s agent, a media venture that Newsom has apparently been working on for more than a year. Between traveling to other states and planning a new media career, Newsom is searching for any distraction he can find to avoid governing the state with the worst poverty rate in the country.

Perhaps it is for the best that Newsom be distracted by shiny objects in media or on the presidential campaign trail because, when he does try to govern, he makes things worse. That is evident in his setting aside millions of taxpayer dollars for slavery reparations. Newsom also has actively tried to sabotage a campaign to impose harsher penalties on criminals in the state, though his efforts to promote a watered-down alternative proposition failed because he ran out of time.

Yes, the governor who is focused on his own future presidential ambitions and on podcasting with a football player ran out of time to lay out his own plan to fix the state’s crime crisis. At least Newsom has his priorities straight.

Newsom has been the nation’s worst governor since he was elected in 2018, and he has only become worse as the years go by. His obsession with celebrity and becoming president is more important to him than the people in his state being able to live without worrying about crime or being taxed into the ground. Newsom will do anything to secure his political future beyond 2026, so long as “anything” doesn’t include his current job.
