A woman was in for a surprise when she took a DNA test to learn more about her heritage.

Born in Hawaii to Chinese immigrant parents, Shirley Huang, 25, from California , decided to take a 23andMe test , which cost her around $100.

The results, however, were not what she expected . As she revealed in a TikTok video that has since garnered over 2.4 million views , the test showed that she was 100% Chinese, specifically from the southern Guangdong province.

"Not me paying $100 for 23andMe to tell me I'm 100% Chinese," she humorously commented on TikTok. According to Health Digest, it's quite rare for someone to be 100% one ethnicity due to centuries of human migration across continents.

However, they also noted that ancestry companies use ever-advancing technology, so the results may not be entirely accurate. Commenters on Huang's TikTok post were astounded by her discovery, with one saying, "[You're] a purebread bro," and another jokingly stating, "[Your] eggs are now worth 20K."

Another commenter expressed their shock, saying, "Yea, I have never seen 100% of anything!!!" In an interview with Newsweek, Huang admitted that she was taken aback by the result.

She had anticipated a mixed Asian heritage, including China and other countries. She laughed in surprise, confessing that she "didn't know it was possible to be 100 percent anything on a DNA test."

Huang concluded by saying: "It turns out my ancestors were from [Guangdong] and never left, making my parents the first generation to move away from South China."

The test was beneficial in understanding her genetic risk for certain diseases. Her father was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's and diabetes, but luckily, she doesn't carry the genes for these conditions.
