Rocket company SpaceX will move its headquarters to Texas from California, CEO Elon Musk said on Tuesday in a post on X.

Musk cited California’s new bill banning school transgender notification policies as one of the reasons for the move, calling it the “last straw”.

“Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies” said Musk.

Later he said headquarters for X, the former Twitter, would also move to Texas.

The billionaire tech entrepreneur has a transgender daughter and blames California school polices for her estrangement.

SpaceX headquarters and manufacturing facilities for its Falcon 9 rockets are currently located in Hawthorne, a suburb of Los Angeles. The company is building and launching its new Starship rocket in south Texas.

Musk in February said he moved SpaceX’s incorporation from Delaware to Texas, after a Delaware judge invalidated his $56-billion pay package from his electric vehicle company Tesla.

Earlier he moved Tesla’s headquarters from Silicon Valley to Austin, though the company maintains a factory and design center in California.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom responded to Musk on X that “you bent the knee” to Donald Trump.
