Mammoth Mountain Is Replacing Broadway, Chair #1, This Summer

Mammoth Mountain, CA, is currently replacing Broadway Express, perhaps better known to skiers as Chair 1. Located at the Main Lodge, this important lift is being updated with a Doppelmayer D-Line 6-pack detachable high speed chairlift.

This new lift is promised to provide 25% more uphill capacity, reducing wait times on powder days (hopefully--you can't always control how much digging needs to be done). You can, however, control comfort levels in snowstorms, and the new lift features enclosed top and bottom terminals, which also protects chairs during storms. Best of all, this allows for faster lift opening times when it snows.
The project, taking place this summer, has been going according to schedule so far.
All of the resort's construction milestones have met projected timelines. According to officials at Mammoth in a conversation with POWDER , "the team just finished pouring all 12 tower foundations and completed the foundation for the lower terminal building."
Due to Mammoth being a popular summer destination, this construction has upped the need for communication with guests visiting the resort. Officials told us that the resort has "been providing Bike Park riders daily updates via social media and weekly updates via the Bike Park report email."

Besides the Lift & Bike Trail Status page on Mammoth's website, people can check for updates on that on Mammoth's social media. There are daily operational updates to guests and riders.
Additionally, the Mountain Report page can always be referenced for trail status updates. Significant operational changes are also communicated on Instagram and Facebook.

Overall, the resort is excited for this chair's replacement, and Mammoth believes this project will improve the guest experience.
Although this project, along with significant investments in the snowmaking system on the mountain, are large undertakings, both projects will allow our guests to better take advantage of everything the mountain has to offer. Both are planned to be ready for the 24/25 winter season.
