BREAKING: Kamala Harris Secures Enough Delegates to Be Democratic Nominee

Kamala Harris secured support from enough delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination for president on Monday night, after a major endorsement from the delegation of her home state of California.

The Associated Press reported Monday night that Harris had crossed the threshold necessary to be the nominee that will face former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election. Harris’ rapid ascent to the nomination started in the minutes after President Joe Biden announced his exit from the race. Her support snowballed on Sunday night and into Monday.

“By Monday night, Harris had the support of at least 2,471 delegates, according to the AP tally of delegates, more than the 1,976 delegates she’ll need to win on a first ballot,” AP reported.
