Most people just think of rain and gray skies when they think above Seattle, but the truth is that this popular Pacific Northwest city has a wonderful culinary scene. They are more than just tasty seafood and coffee. When it comes to Chinese cuisine, they are lucky enough to feature a variety of fantastic restaurants that deserve a spot on your itinerary when you make your next visit. In business since 2008, Harbor City prides itself on its fine quality ingredients. They offer all of the traditional Chinese fare in addition to dim sum. If you visit for the dim sum, I recommend their shrimp dumplings with chives and their pan-fried daikon cakes. This is my go-to dim sum spot when I visit Seattle and they have every option I want in a dim sum meal. If you go for dinner, I like to start with their seafood with tofu soup. For my main dish, my favorite is their black pepper beef short ribs or the salt and pepper pork chops. Crispy yet tender, perfection every time. They also have tons of vegetarian, noodle, and seafood options, so there is something on the menu for everyone.

What I recommend: dim sum and dinner options are great here

Once you visit Din Tai Fung, you will understand why they have been around serving authentic Chinese food for almost 50 years. They have a number of locations throughout the Seattle area. When you visit, I suggest trying their soy noodle salad as a starter. They also offer a huge selection of bao and dumplings. On a cold and drizzly day, I like to order one of their large bowls of warm noodle soup. Their pork chop noodle soup is the perfect comfort food on a chilly day. But if you really need to be warmed up, I suggest you go for their famous wonton in chili oil. This will warm your belly, heart, and soul. Absolutely flavorful and delilcious. After your meal, you must try one of their dessert bao options. They come filled with red bean or sweet taro. Make sure to save room!

What I recommend: Dumplings and wonton in chili oil is a must here

Serving up all of my favorite dim sum options alongside the traditional Chinese dishes that I love, Jade Garden is worth a visit. They have an amazing seafood selection. When I visit, I start with their hot and sour soul. For my main dish, I always order their prawns in black bean sauce. They also make plenty of the flavorful beef, chicken, and pork dishes you would expect. The noodle lovers will have plenty of options as well. I like their seafood chow fun in curry sauce because it's new and pretty good. But my go-to noodle dish would always be the crispy seafood noodle. I love that the crispy noodles are extremely crispy but also half of it is drenched in the sauce that it becomes soggy as well so it's a great combination. These warm and savory dishes are the perfect accompaniment to the cool, rainy weather.

What I recommend: crispy seafood noodles

    Location: 424 7th Ave S Seattle, WA 98104

I hope that the above list of options will save you the trouble of trying to find which of the many great restaurants in the Seattle area are worth the trip. Any of the above spots are sure to provide a great experience whether you dine alone or partake in dim sum with a large group of friends. With everything from seafood to vegetarian and rice bowls to noodles soups, every item on their menu is sure to please.
