The 2024 edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine was released earlier in July and one of the features annually is the magazine's Super Team candidates from all across the State of Texas. These players are considered to be the very best players at their positions from players in more than 1,500 high schools all across the state. This year on offense there are two players from Jasper that have made the list and for the second year in a row, Jasper has a Super Team first team player.
Beaumont police investigating after body found in 'advanced stages of decomposition'
BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after a body in "advanced stages of decomposition" was found on Tuesday night. Officers responded to the 1300 block of College St. at 9:38 p.m. after receiving a report that a body was located behind a property between a fence and a neighboring building.

At least 150 people went to hospitals in Southeast Texas because of the exposure, according to Beaumont lawyer Brent Coon, who has already filed a lawsuit.
BC City Council honor winners of contest
The Bridge City City Council last week honored the winners of the art scholarship contest held as part of the Red, White, and You Celebration earlier this month. Local businesses donated the money for the scholarships. Mayor David Rutledge presented checks to first place winner Gabrielle Sensat, who received $1,500, and second place winner Heidi Broussard, who got $750. Both plan to attend Lamar University in Beaumont. The scholarship contest, along with festival and drone show, were sponsored by the Community Leadership Forum's Quality of Life Committee.
