Here is a roundup of recent incidents and announcements from Ventura County agencies:

Bicyclist killed after Camarillo robbery identified

The bicyclist struck and killed by a motorist who allegedly fled after stealing a gun Saturday at a Camarillo motel has been identified.

The bicyclist was identified as Robert Pierret, 58, of Ventura, by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.

Ventura County Sheriff's officials initially expected the driver to be arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, robbery and evasion of law enforcement during a pursuit that began after he left the motel. He was initially believed to be from Oxnard.

But the death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

The cause was deemed to be multiple blunt force injuries.

Dr. Christopher Young, the county medical examiner, said deaths that occur when someone is struck by a vehicle are commonly ruled as accidents unless there is some unusual circumstance. Law enforcement officers may come to a different conclusion after a criminal investigation, he said.

The Sheriff's Office is expected to release additional details about the incident on Wednesday morning.

Two arrested for ID theft in Fillmore

Two individuals were arrested last week on suspicion of identity thefts and related crimes affecting a large number of Fillmore residents.

On July 22, Ventura County Sheriff's deputies said they responded to the 100 block of B Street regarding a mail theft after residents reported that a community mailbox had been broken into and several people's mail stolen. That night, an individual whose mail was allegedly stolen reported fraudulent use of a credit card at a local motel.

A 45-year-old woman from Moreno Valley and a 30-year-old man from Rialto were arrested on suspicion of several offenses, including conspiracy to commit a crime, mail theft, fraudulent use of an access card and identity theft of 10 or more victims. The man was arrested in connection with the additional crimes of providing false information to a peace officer, false impersonation of another person and possession of a controlled substance.

Both defendants were booked into Ventura County jail. The woman has been released, but the man was being held Tuesday at the main jail in Ventura on $60,000 bail.
