Polk City's newest restaurants opens up
Arcadia, a new modern American restaurant is opening in Polk City today with unique Vietnamese and Latino influences. Why it matters: The owners want to introduce fine dining and more cultural choices to the suburb's growing restaurant scene, co-owner and head chef Mikel Nguyen, tells Axios. The vibe: The newly-constructed, nearly 4,000-square-foot restaurant has high ceilings, lots of windows and natural lighting. There's also a large patio for nearby boaters from Saylorville and Big Creek who want to dine outside.Dig in: Expect brunch, lunch and dinner menus featuring a range from casual plates like a smash burger ($15) to more formal plates like surf and turf ($37).Nguyen, who is Vietnamese, also incorporated fusion foods, along with his Latino chef. You'll find chimichurri tacos ($17.50) and Asian-inspired sticky ribs ($27).The intrigue: "Arcadia" means a place with peace and simplicity, Nguyen says, nodding to their farm-to-table concept. If you go: 11am-9pm, Tues-Thurs; 11am-10pm, Fri; 8am-10pm, Sat; 8am-2pm, Sun.1010 Tyler Street, #4, Polk City. The winner of a massive lottery prize has less than a month to claim it before a six-figure piece of paper effectively becomes worthless. Back in March, a Powerball ticket was purchased at a Kwik Star, located at 1502 South Federal Avenue, in Mason City, IA. That ticket proved to be a lucky one, as it's now worth $500,000. The prize will expire if unclaimed by the September 12th deadline.

Mitchell collected hundreds of the 13- and 17-year cicadas this spring which she plans to air-fry, sprinkle with seasoning, and serve to visitors to the Ames campus on Saturday.
Dear Iowa, How Hard is it to Clean Up After Your Dog?
What I experienced earlier this week is completely unacceptable. One of your jobs as a responsible dog owner is cleaning up after them. Whether they are at a park, hanging out in someone's yard, or you're a guest at someone's house, they are your responsibility 100% of the time. If your dog breaks something, chews something a part, or uses the bathroom, its your responsibility to solve/repair/clean the mess. No ifs ands or butts about it.
Iowans Are Already Saving Up For Our Favorite Halloween Decoration
We're getting close to spooky season. My social media feed is split. Half of the posts are claiming it's spooky season now, jack-o-lanterns go on the porch right now and everything in the kitchen is now pumpkin-flavored. The other half of the posts are clinging onto the dog days of summer for dear life.
