Firefighters in the West are scrambling as wildfires threaten communities in Oregon, California and Washington. A stretch of Interstate 84 connecting Oregon and Idaho in the area of one of the fires was closed indefinitely Tuesday. New lightning-sparked wildfires in the Sierra near the California-Nevada border forced the evacuation of a recreation area, closed a state highway and were threatening structures Tuesday.

College football is a big deal in the state of Idaho. While not everyone watches it or follows it, Boise State has become a household brand that is what most people think of when they think of the Gem State. If you ask most people what they know about Idaho, they are likely to say two things, that is potatoes and Boise State football. The season is fast approaching and will be here before you know it, but what some may not realize is that there are college football programs in Idaho as well. Two of the colleges in Idaho will reignite their college football rivalry this fall, and they will do so with a new and unique trophy.
Fire breaks out near Horseshoe Bend, Highway 55 closed
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A wildfire has broken out near Horseshoe Bend. The Boise County Sheriff's Office has closed Highway 55 between Horseshoe Bend Hill and Avimor. Fire crews are responding to the scene. A video shared with us by a viewer shows what appears to be a burnt-out vehicle on the side of the road, but whether or not it started the fire or was a casualty of it is unclear.
Caldwell School District cuts SROs from budget. What's next for the schools, officers
CALDWELL — Among major changes coming in the 2024-2025 academic year, the Caldwell School District will be cutting school resources officers from its budget. This is another decision made due to the failed renewal of a $4.1 million supplemental levy in the May 21 primary election. This summer, the CSD also moved to close an elementary school and implement costs for student sports.
