Chateau Blanc Cafe to Replace Aleppo Palace in Cambridge’s Central Square

An upcoming ice cream and coffee shop is set to replace a Middle Eastern eatery known for its late-night bites.

According to a report from Cambridge Day , Chateau Blanc Cafe will take over the former Aleppo Palace space at 25 Central Square in Cambridge . Despite the transition, the new shop will maintain its predecessor’s old late-night hours, closing daily at 3 a.m.

Owner Mohamed Seffo confirmed this development with What Now Boston , attributing his decision to pivot to pandemic-related supply chain issues.

Reflecting on the challenges he faced with Aleppo Palace, Seffo noted the decline in the quality of ingredients and the difficulty in finding dedicated staff. “The quality of food from the supply chain was going down and prices were going up,” said Seffo. “I decided to switch it up to something a little bit easier to manage.”

Seffo disclosed plans to procure ice cream from a nearby New England farm that raises its own cows, alongside a selection of specialty coffees such as espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and frappuccinos.

“Special drinks mixed with ice cream and coffee—just trying to be more creative, a little bit different,” he shared. “We’re going to invite people in and see what happens.”

The License Commission has approved two patio tables with two seats each, enhancing the dining options for the castle-like building that currently only seats twelve indoors.

Originally slated for a July launch, Seffo is now targeting an early August opening as he navigates unforeseen challenges in the final stages of preparation.
