CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge man was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault, false imprisonment and reckless endangerment.

According to a news release from the Cambridge Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of Crusader Road on June 5 for a report of a physical disturbance.

Police said upon arrival, officers met Benjamin Harris, 42, of Cambridge, who reported that he hit a woman several times.

Police said officers contacted the victim, who reported Harris had locked her in a room before kicking and punching her multiple times. It was reported that Harris threw a table at the victim and placed her in a headlock, police said.

Officers observed that the victim's injuries were consistent with what was reported, according to the news release.

After being placed under arrest and taken to the police department for processing and an initial appearance before a court commissioner, Harris was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
