CAMBRIDGE — The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that broke out on Robbins Street Thursday afternoon, displacing eight occupants.

Rescue Fire Company Chief Adam Pritchett said the eight occupants of 639 Robbins Street are being assisted by the American Red Cross. He said the fire did not cause any injuries to residents or firefighters.

The fire, which started a little after 1:30 p.m., took approximately 30 firefighters from Talbot and Dorchester County volunteer fire units about one hour to control. According to Rescue Fire Company's Facebook page, it was a two alarm fire.

Pritchett said the fire did not spread to any surrounding properties, however from photos it was apparent at least one nearby structure's siding had melted. The cause of the fire had not yet been determined by the fire marshal at press time.
