CAMBRIDGE - It’s been a championship season for Dorchester County Little League Softball and Baseball All Stars, with several moving on to state tournaments.

The Cambridge Little League Facebook page, announcing the first of two planned parades, announced, “We have so much Dorchester Pride right now, we’re bursting at the seams!”

On Wednesday, July 3 at 6 p.m., the first parade celebrating the girls Major League and Minor League softball teams heading to their state tournaments this weekend will kick off at Long Wharf and continue through Poplar and Race Streets to the Cambridge Little League Fields.

Parents organizing the parade ask that youngsters arrive by 5:30 p.m. to line up, according to coach and coordinator Kristin Cannon.

Another parade to celebrate District Six Championship Boys All Stars moving on will be announced following the outcome of the Major League championship game.

The Boys Junior League and Minor League teams are already set to participate in the next level of state tournament play.

The Major League girls play next in St. Mary’s County on Saturday, July 6, while the Minor League girls head to Brunswick, Md. to play the same day.

The Boys Minor League team enters their States tournament the weekend of July 13 in South Baltimore, while the Junior League team starts July 6th in Rising Sun.

To assist parents financially with upcoming team travel expenses, Cannon has set up a GoFundMe account at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-dorchester-teams-journey-to-states.
