CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge man was arrested on 30 charges after fleeing a traffic stop and striking a house.

Keizye Daijuon Collins, 27, was arrested on charges including first- and second-degree assault, driving on a suspended and revoked license, reckless driving and attempting to elude police by failing to stop.

According to a news release from the Cambridge Police Department, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on July 1 for a stop sign violation on Fairmount Avenue and High Street.

Police said when the vehicle came to a stop in the area of High Street and Park Lane, Collins exited the vehicle. When an officer told Collins to return to the vehicle, Collins did so and fled the area “at a high rate of speed.”

Police said that in the area of High Street, Collins “swerved” at a CPD patrol vehicle and the officer in the vehicle “had to make evasive maneuvers to avoid being struck.”

Police said officers watched Collins turn down the 400 block of Charles Street and strike a house on Charles Street and Skinners Court while attempting to travel between houses. After that, police said Collins fled the scene on foot.

Collins was identified as the driver of the vehicle through investigation, according to the news release.

Police said Collins later contacted CPD, attempting to report his vehicle as stolen. When CPD requested that Collins come to the station and speak with officers, Collins refused and officers applied for charges on Collins.

On July 8, Collins was arrested on a warrant. He was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.
