    Deerfield baseball completes sweep of Horicon

    The Deerfield baseball team completed a sweep of Horicon in a 13-3 win on Thursday, April 25 at Deerfield High School.

    Junior Aiden Brown led the Demons, going 2x5 with three RBIs. Brown drove in the 13th Deerfield run on an RBI single in the sixth, scoring senior Kris Hahn and enacting the mercy rule.

    Brown also hit an RBI single to score Hahn in the second and grounded into a fielder’s choice in the first, scoring Hahn.

    Seniors Austin Anderson, Adam Suess and Jackson Drobac all drove in two runs, while sophomore Landon Brattlie and junior Stephen Bagley both drove in a run.

    Hahn pitched five innings, earning the win with eight strikeouts. Hahn allowed six hits and gave up one unearned run. Drobac pitched one inning of relief, giving up two unearned runs.

    Deerfield is 7-4 on the season and 5-0 in the Trailways-South Conference.

    Deerfield 7, Horicon 0

    Senior Adam Suess pitched a complete-game shutout in a Deerfield baseball 7-0 win over Horicon on Tuesday, April 23 at Discher Park.

    Suess earned the win, allowing three hits and issuing three walks. Suess struck out five and threw 99 pitches, 57 of them for strikes. At the plate, Suess went 3x4 with an RBI and a stolen base.

    Suess put the Demons on the board in the top of the first inning, hitting a double that scored senior Kris Hahn. Also in the inning, senior Jackson Drobac scored Suess on an RBI single. Junior Luke Sigurslid then scored on a Horicon error in the second.

    Sophomore Declan Pohlman hit a solo home run in the sixth. Also in the sixth, senior Austin Anderson hit a double to score sophomore Landon Brattlie and Drobac hit a sac fly to score Anderson.

    In the seventh, Brattlie hit a single to score Pohlman for the Deerfield seventh run. Pohlman went 2x4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

    Lake Mills 10, Deerfield 1

    Ty Schaefer drove in three runs and Wyatt Werner had three hits to lead Lake Mills offensively in a 10-1 home win over Deerfield in non conference play on Monday, April 22.

    With two outs in the first inning, Werner singled home Schaefer before Brody Henderson swiped home on a double steal. Schaefer singled home a pair in the second.

    Lake Mills (5-4) broke the game open with six runs on six hits in the third. Alex Parys’ RBI double made it 5-0 and was the first of four straight run-scoring knocks. Schaefer and Henderson followed with singles before a two-run double by Cooper Murphy made it 9-0.

    Hunter Frohmader pitched a complete-game two-hitter for the L-Cats. He allowed an unearned run and struck out six while walking three, throwing 56 of his 99 pitches for strikes.

    For Deerfield, sophomore Landon Brattlie scored sophomore Declan Pohlman on an RBI groundout in the fifth.

    Junior Luke Sigurslid pitched three innings in the loss, giving up 10 runs (five earned) and recording four strikeouts. Junior Stephen Bagley pitched three innings of relief, allowing just two hits.
