After the Cambridge softball team was forced to wait until Monday, April 8 to play their first game of the season due to weather, they wasted little time scoring runs.

The Blue Jays scored four runs in the top of the first inning, never looking back in a 9-5 win over Randolph at Randolph High School.

In the first, Megan Bernhardt hit a two-run single to score Julia Schneider and Saveea Freeland. Bernhardt and Marissa Schneider also came around to score in the inning.

After Freeland scored a run in the third, Malina Schneider drove in Cally Travis on an RBI single in the fifth. Later in the inning, Julia Schneider hit a two-run double to score Kimmy Roidt and Malina Schneider. Roidt also scored in the sixth inning.

In the circle, Freeland pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts. In the final three innings, Freeland had six strikeouts.

Cambridge is 1-0 to start the season.
