    Deerfield volleyball takes second place in conference standings after winning games against Johnson Creek, Madison Country Day

    The Deerfield volleyball team scored a 3-0 sweep of Johnson Creek (25-12, 25-14, 25-17) on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Deerfield High School.

    Freshman outside hitter Sydney Loerke led the Demons with 15 kills. Sophomore setter Nevaeh Schears recorded 17 assists, while senior setter Makayla Waack tallied 10 assists.

    Junior outside hitter Riley Fisher, Loerke, freshman outside hitter Libby Fisher, Schears and junior libero Lily Betthauser each served one ace.

    Defensively, Riley Fisher and Waack each had a team-high 11 digs, while Betthauser added 10 digs and Loerke recorded nine digs. Junior middle blocker Rowan Lasack had four solo blocks.

    The Demons have won their last three conference matches. Deerfield is 14-14 on the season and second in the Trailways-South Conference standings with a record of 4-1.

    Deerfield 3, Madison Country Day 0

    The Demons earned a 3-0 sweep of Madison Country Day (25-12, 25-5, 25-9) on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Deerfield High School.

    Senior middle hitter Cora Nelson and freshman outside hitter Sydney Loerke each recorded a team-high nine kills. Senior setter Makayla Waack had 18 assists.

    The Demons enjoyed a strong night of serving, tallying 14 aces. Freshman outside hitter Libby Fisher served five, Waack recorded four, junior libero Lily Betthauser tallied three aces and sophomore setter Nevaeh Schears had two aces.

    Betthauser led the team with 10 digs, while Riley Fisher added eight digs. Nelson also had a team-high three solo blocks.
