Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer defeated by Dodgeville/Mineral Point
DODGEVILLE - - The Dodgeville/Mineral Point co-op (4-0) had five different players score in a 5-0 victory over the Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer team on Saturday. Katie Scheckel (4:46) and Layla Novak (23:42) both scored, unassisted, in the first half. In the second half, Abbey Ludwig (46:57) found the back of the net, unassisted, while Ava Hying scored at the 59:28 mark, assisted by Ava McDonald. Lilly Houtaker scored the fifth goal off an assist from Hying at the 61:09 mark. Cambridge/Deerfield (0-3) faces Beaver Dam (1-2) on Monday at Prairie View Elementary School.

CAMBRIDGE - - Viviana Mata scored twice for Watertown Luther Prep as the Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer fell 2-0 to the Phoenix in non-conference play at CHS on Thursday. Mata scored in the 31st minute and then completed the brace in the 34th minute. Both goals were unassisted. CDU (0-2, 0-1) faces Edgerton (1-0) at CHS at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
Lake Mills blanks Cambridge in softball
Cally Travis had the lone hit for the Cambridge softball team as the Blue Jays fell 9-0 in non-conference play against Lake Mills on Tuesday, April 9 at Lake Mills Rotary Park. Lake Mills’ Ava Kleinfeldt pitched five no-hit innings with five strikeouts. Aubrey Lepak pitched the last two innings in relief. Kleinfeldt also recorded three RBIs at the plate. The L-Cats (4-0) surged ahead in the first inning, when Lily Doerr, Kleinfeldt and Taylor Wollin strung together consecutive RBI singles. Haydenn Sellnow's run-scoring single in the second plus Kleinfeldt RBI double helped extend the margin to 6-0. Saveea Freeland took the loss for Cambridge, recording two strikeouts in the circle. Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer defeated by Lodi
Lodi’s Gianna Burke scored a hat trick as the Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer lost 5-1 to the Blue Devils on Tuesday, April 9 at Cambridge High School. Burke scored two goals off assists from Anna Balfanz in the 65th and 73rd minutes and completed the hat trick in the 79th minute off an assist from Alexis Wilcox. Anna Stratton also scored for Lodi in the 54th minute, assisted by Gracie Clary. Clary also scored for Lodi in the 60th minute, unassisted. For Cambridge/Deerfield, senior Ana Sarallo scored off a cross from senior Audrey Kessenich in the 67th minute. United held Lodi, a Division 4 state qualifier last year, scoreless in the first half. United (0-1) faces Watertown Luther Prep on Thursday.

The Cambridge track and field team competed against Waterloo and Marshall in a double dual on Tuesday, April 9 at Waterloo High School. The boys team tied Waterloo 68-68, while losing 105-41 to Marshall. For the girls team, Cambridge defeated Waterloo 90-36, while losing 81-60 to Marshall. The Deerfield softball team scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the third inning in a Deerfield 5-2 win over Fort Atkinson on Monday, April 8 at Deerfield High School. Lily Betthauser scored Rylee Betthauser on an RBI single and then Chloe Moore stole home. With two outs, Lydia Mack drove in Rowan Lasack on a double and Riley Fisher hit a two-run single to score Mack and Addison Klein.
