City of Saline looking into statewide incentive programs to redevelop older buildings
The City of Saline is looking at some state programs to redevelop and rehabilitate areas to spur economic growth. The two state programs allow for the abatement of property taxes. One is commercial redevelopment of properties; the other is for rehabilitation. It involves updating current structures and/or building or replacing older, obsolete facilities.

Pinball brings Toledoans together for celebration of Americana, friendly competition
Men, women, and children alike gathered Sunday for an evening of pinball, food, and drink at Heavy Beer Company in downtown Toledo. Every other weekend, Glass City Pinball hosts a Sunday Funday pinball tournament in which the top four players win the payout from the buy-in fee. There are also randomly drawn prize giveaways available to all players. “You’re just playing against yourself,” said Mike Pilarczyk, who’s been playing pinball for about a year and helps keep score at the Sunday tournaments. “That's always how I feel — you’re just trying to make your sport better. You're just really gonna play it against yourself and just become even better as you grow.” The tournament attracts players of all skill levels and ages, ranging from seasoned pinball wizards to raw novices. Glass City Pinball encourages anyone to come in and play, regardless of experience. Large warehouse fire in St. Clair County contained, EPA monitoring air quality
(CBS DETROIT) - A large warehouse fire in Port Huron's industrial park is contained. Crews continued to work on putting out the smoke and flames into Sunday evening.Port Huron Fire Chief Corey Nicholson said the fire began around 11 a.m. Sunday morning at Beard St. and 22nd St. Authorities were notified by a fire alarm, the building was unoccupied.Chief Nicholson said there have been no civilian injuries, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a cardiac related issue.He added they were rotating firefighters consistently as they battle the flames and heat outside."The warehouse contains finished and unfinished car parts, car accessories, plastics of that nature so there's a lot of combustible material and rack storage here," said Nicholson. "Fire's under investigation at this time, it'll be quite awhile before we have a cause and origin." The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy said the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has been notified and could be found at the scene, conducting air-monitoring.
