Jefferson 82, Orfordville Parkview 65 — The Vikings were down 48-26 at halftime and came storming back to cut the deficit to seven, but a late surge from the free-throw line by the Eagles helped them pull away for the nonconference win.

Finn DeBlare scored 15 points before halftime while Aidan Kammer added 12 of his 14 points to help give visiting Jefferson (12-7) a nice advantage after the first.

Sophomore Aiden Crane, who paced Parkview (4-13) with nine points before halftime, erupted for 15 points after halftime to finish with 26 points, and teammate Oliver Friedrich ended with 15 points.

DeBlare ended with 25 points for the Eagles while Tyler Schroedl added 16.

“(We) rebounded much better and played more fundamental defense in the second half,” Vikings’ head coach Mary Crane said. “(With) three minutes left we started fouling to try and close the gap a little more so the end score looks worse than it was.”

Jefferson committed just seven fouls and didn’t once put Parkview on the free-throw line.

The Vikings will next return to Trailways South action when they play at Deerfield at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
