    Cambridge's Bystol-Flores medalist at Phoenix Invite; Blue Jays shoot season-low 311 to place 2nd

    Cambridge junior Kian Bystol-Flores carded a round of one over par 71 to win medalist honors at Friday’s Phoenix Invitational at Watertown Country Club.

    Cambridge shot a season-low 311 as a team, finishing second to University School of Milwaukee (309).

    Blue Jays senior Cade Nottestad placed second, firing a 73.

    Junior Matt Buckman shot a season-best 79 and tied for seventh for the Blue Jays, who also counted freshman Ben Baker’s round of 88.

    Team scores: University School of Milwaukee 309, Cambridge 311, Lake Country Lutheran 334, Lake Mills 336, East Troy 338, St. John’s Northwestern 343, Lakeside Lutheran 352, Luther Prep 380.

    THURSDAY’S RESULTS

    Cambridge’s boys golf team took another step toward winning the Capitol Conference title by shooting 160 and placing first at the season’s final league mini meet, which Lake Mills Golf Club hosted on Thursday, May 2.

    Blue Jays junior Kian Bystol-Flores shot 1-under 35 for the day’s low round by three strokes over Lodi senior Walter Beld.

    Senior Cade Nottestad (41), freshman Ben Baker (42) and junior Andrew Smith (42) also scored for the Blue Jays, who finished eight shots clear of Lodi en route to their fifth mini meet win of the season.

    Team scores: Cambridge 160, Lodi 168, New Glarus 173, Lake Mills 179, Lakeside Lutheran 181, Monticello/Belleville 184, Columbus 194, Wisconsin Heights 207.

    WEDNESDAY’S RESULTS

    Bystol-Flores earned medalist honors by carding an even-par 72 at a 104-player event held at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia’s Links Course on Wednesday, May 1.

    The ‘team’ event paired each school’s No. 1 and No. 4 golfer together as well as the No. 2 and No. 3 golfers. Bystol-Flores paired with Ben Baker, who shot 92, to shoot a combined total of 164, which was the winning score.

    Nottestad shot 77 and Buckman posted an 89 for a total of 166, which put the duo in second place overall.

    The Blue Jays earned six total medals on a windy day at Lawsonia.

    MONDAY’S RESULTS

    Cambridge’s boys golf team held off some unexpected challengers to win Monday’s Capitol Conference mini meet contested at Lake Ripley Country Club.

    The Blue Jays shot 159, edging Lakeside Lutheran (161) while also staving off Lake Mills (167) and Monticello/Belleville (167).

    Cambridge junior Kian Bystol-Flores posted the day’s low round on his home course, carding a 1-over 36.

    Senior Cade Nottestad shot 37 and took second. Freshman Ben Baker (42) and junior Matt Buckman (44) also scored.

    Team scores: Cambridge 159, Lakeside Lutheran 161, Lake Mills 167, Monticello/Belleville 167, New Glarus 168, Lodi 175, Columbus 187, Wisconsin Heights 206.
