    Cambridge baseball pushes win streak to eight in a row after sweeping Wautoma doubleheader

    The Cambridge baseball team continues to roll.

    The Blue Jays scored a sweep of Wautoma in a doubleheader at CHS on Saturday, May 11, improving their win streak to eight games.

    In the first game, the Blue Jays won 4-3 on a walk-off in extra innings. With the game tied at 3-3, senior Gavin Winslow led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a walk.

    Winslow then stole second base and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt from sophomore Cal Nottestad. With one out, sophomore Jett Horton flew out to center field, allowing Winslow to tag up and score the winning run.

    Cambridge had trailed 3-1 entering the fifth inning before junior Clayton Stenjem scored junior Kiefer Parish on an RBI double. Senior Owen Bernhardt then hit a triple with two outs to score Stenjem and tie the game at 3-3.

    Senior Carter Lund hit an RBI double in the first to score junior Nick Ellickson. On the mound, Nottestad earned the win. Nottestad pitched four innings of relief, giving up one run and recording three strikeouts.

    In the second game, Horton pitched into the seventh inning, allowing three runs and recording seven strikeouts in a 7-3 win. Nottestad recorded the last two outs, both by strikeouts.

    Senior Marco Damiani hit a two-run double in a four-run third, scoring senior Brayden Lund and Parish. Carter Lund then hit a two-run double in the next at-bat, scoring Stenjem and Damiani.

    Junior Tyler Richardson recorded an RBI groundout in the sixth, scoring Carter Lund. Also in the sixth, Horton scored Bernhardt on an RBI single.

    In the seventh, Damiani scored Parish on a sacrifice fly. Damiani finished the game with three RBIs.

    Cambridge is 11-4 on the season, in first place in the Capitol-South with a record of 7-1 and ranked 18th in the Division 3 Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association rankings.
