    Cambridge track wins three events at Raider Invite

    The Cambridge track and field team competed at the Raider Invite on Friday, May 10, winning three events at the Belleville Sports Complex.

    For the girls team, the 4x100 relay team finished first overall at 54.02 seconds. The 4x200 relay team took first place at 1:52.03.

    In the long jump, freshman Jill Thompson scored first overall at 17 feet and 0.5 inches. Freshman Emillie Behm (15-2) also took seventh in the event.

    The 4x400 relay team finished second at 4:41.62. In the pole vault, junior Mallorri Buonincontro tied for second at seven feet and six inches, while freshman Sophia Downs (7-0) finished fifth.

    In the 400 meter, freshman Tara Bettenhausen (1:06.84) just missed out on winning the event as Lodi’s Dakota Pierquet (1:06.82) took first. Also in the event, junior Charlotte Brown (1:11.95) ran seventh.

    In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Ava Williams (17.13) and sophomore Malina Schneider (17.78) ran second and fifth overall. Williams (48.41) and Schneider (49.91) took second and third in the 300-meter hurdles.

    Senior Mya Lehmann (13.97) placed fifth in the 100-meter dash finals. Sophomore Tessa Schmude (29.10) ran sixth in the 200-meter dash.

    The Cambridge girls team finished fourth with 93.33 points. Lodi won the event with 136.5 points.

    For the boys, sophomore Owain Nelles (54.04) ran third and sophomore Mason Sonnenberg (56.82) placed sixth in the 400 meters. The 4x400 relay team placed third at 3:43.16.

    In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Drew Holzhueter (16.14) ran third, senior Perry Thompson (18.20) placed sixth and freshman Elias Reese (19.94) took seventh. Holzhueter (42.53) scored fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.

    The 4x100 relay team finished fourth at 47.08 seconds. The 4x200 relay team ran fifth at 1:37.74.

    Junior Ben Fisher (10-6) scored fifth in the pole vault. Junior James Leonard (11:46.85) took sixth in the 3200 meter.

    Freshman Trevor Polster (12.10) ran seventh in the 100-meter dash. The 4x800 relay team placed eighth at 9:41.47. Polster (19-2.25) scored eighth in the long jump.

    The Cambridge boys team placed sixth with 49 points. Lodi also won the boys event as well, earning 192 points.

    Dana Waddell Invite

    The Cambridge track and field team both finished in the top-five at the Dana Waddell Invitational on Wednesday, May 8 at Marshall High School.

    The boys team finished fourth with 115 points. For the boys, sophomore Owain Nelles won the 400-meter dash in 53.67 seconds.

    In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Drew Holzhueter (16.30) finished in first place, while senior Perry Thompson (18.36) and freshman Elias Reese (18.98) ran fourth and fifth.

    Holzhueter (42.53) and Thompson (47.46) took first and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles. Freshman Trevor Polster (18-7) scored second in the long jump.

    The 4x100 relay team placed second at 46.58 seconds. The 4x200 relay team took second at 1:36.83.

    The 4x400 relay team finished second at 3:43.39. The 4x800 relay team placed second at 9:48.26.

    Junior James Leonard (11:50.41) ran third in the 3200 meter. Junior Ben Fisher (10-6) finished fourth in the pole vault. Junior Brian Hottman (2:15.46) took fifth in the 800-meter run.

    Marshall won the boys meet with a score of 171.

    The Cambridge girls team finished third with 114 points. For the girls, freshman Jill Thompson won the 200-meter dash in 27.68 seconds.

    In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Ava Williams (17.25) and sophomore Malina Schneider (17.87) finished in first and second place. Williams (48.72) and Schneider (49.87) also finished 1-2 in the 300-meter hurdles.

    The 4x100 relay team placed in first with a time of 53.99 seconds. The 4x200 relay team finished in first at 1:51.13.

    The 4x400 relay team took second at 4:46.37. Sophomore Bella Warpinski threw second in the discus throw at 94 feet and three inches.

    Junior Mallorri Buonincontro (8-0) placed second in the pole vault. In the 100-meter dash, senior Mya Lehmann (14.04) took fourth.

    Freshman Macy Robinson (1:08.18) ran fourth in the 400-meter dash. Freshman Tara Bettenhausen (2:48.80) ran fourth in the 800 meter.

    Marshall won the girls invite with a score of 164.
