Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer defeated on late goal from Lakeside Lutheran, shutout by Big Foot/Williams Bay

The Cambridge/Deerfield girls soccer team was shutout in a 7-0 loss to Big Foot/Williams Bay on Friday, May 10 at Big Foot High School.

Jacki Rambatt scored a hat trick, while Mya Gonzalez added a brace. Caylie Wanat and Ryann Grunow also scored for Big Foot/Williams Bay.

Cambridge/Deerfield is 2-9 on the season and 1-4 in the Capitol Conference.

Freshman Abigail Wood’s game-winning goal in the 70th minute sent Lakeside Lutheran past visiting Cambridge/Deerfield 3-2 in Capitol Conference girls soccer on Tuesday, May 7.

The teams traded goals throughout as C/D’s Ana Sarallo scored unassisted in the 31st minute. Megan Huber’s unassisted score in the 46th equalized for the Warriors.

After Maya Pries’ 55th minute goal, Lakeside’s Kylie Lundgren netted a 60th minute goal assisted by Wood to make it 2-all. Wood rocketed yet another shot from beyond the 18-yard box to put Lakeside in front for good.

”Cambridge/Deerfield capitalized on a first half opportunity and forced us to fight back from a one-goal deficit at half,” Lakeside girls soccer coach Hannah Uher said. “Megan Huber had a great goal from distance to knot things up at 1. After CDU scored on a free kick, we had to counterpunch once again.

”Abigail Wood set up Kylie Lundgren’s long range goal to tie things up at 2. Our girls found some energy and intensity late in the game to maintain the lead and get the win in a fun matchup. We are so proud of our girls for refusing to deflate and for winning the second half.”

Maria Vik made five saves for the Warriors and Zoey Rank stopped 15 shots for United.
