With the Cambridge baseball team winning 6-1 against Marshall and Waterloo also losing 8-3 to New Glarus, the Blue Jays officially clinched the Capitol-South Conference title on Tuesday, May 14 at CHS.

In the win against Marshall, junior Clayton Stenjem pitched six innings, allowing one unearned run. Stenjem recorded four strikeouts and allowed five hits.

With the Cambridge pitching staff holding Marshall’s offense in check, the Blue Jays scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on two errors and did not look back.

Stenjem scored junior Kiefer Parish on an error and senior Carter Lund scored on an error off the bat of senior Owen Bernhardt.

Lund also drove in two runs on doubles, driving in senior Marco Damiani on a double in the third and plating Stenjem on a double in the fifth.

Parish also drove in two runs, scoring sophomore Jett Horton and junior Nick Ellickson on a two-run single in the sixth. Lund pitched the seventh inning, retiring the Cardinals in order to clinch the win.

Cambridge (12-4, 8-1) will travel to Marshall on Thursday.
