    Home Talent: Cambridge Blues and Utica Association score blowout wins over Lake Mills, Stoughton

    The Utica Association broke open a 2-2 tie with seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to earn a 12-4 win over Stoughton on Saturday, May 18 at Norse Park.

    Owen Ernest drove in the go-ahead run, hitting a sacrifice fly to score Brock Wanninger. With two outs in the inning, Ethan Yahn hit an RBI double to score Connor Kalinowski and Derek Karlen drove in Jacob Sanders and Yahn on a two-run single.

    After an error kept the inning going, Ben Hildebrandt hit a single to score Karlen, Carson Knapp scored on a wild pitch and Max Gartzke scored Hildebrandt on an RBI single for the seventh run of the inning.

    Gartzke and Karlen led the Association with three RBIs each. Knapp, Yahn, Ernest, Wanninger and Hildebrandt also added an RBI.

    Wanninger earned the win, pitching six innings with seven strikeouts. Mason Endres added three innings of relief, recording three strikeouts.

    Utica (2-0) faces Albion at Utica Park at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 and faces Footville at Footville Community Park at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 27.

    Cambridge 11, Lake Mills 0

    The Cambridge pitching staff combined to pitch a one-hitter in an 11-0 win over Lake Mills on Sunday, May 19 at Campus Field in Lake Mills.

    JT Parish earned the start, pitching two innings with five strikeouts. Denver Evans added three innings, allowing one hit and recording four strikeouts. Sam Mickelson closed out the sixth and seventh, recording one strikeout.

    At the plate, Tyler Kledzik and Logan Koch both recorded three RBIs. Kledzik hit a two-run single in the sixth to score Jared Marty and Jace Horton. In the seventh, Kledzik scored Colton Ehrke on an RBI single.

    Koch drove in Chase Jarlsberg on an RBI single in the fifth, scored Ehrke on a single in the sixth and drove in Kledzik on an RBI single in the seventh.

    Evans and Jarlsberg both added two RBIs. Cambridge (1-1) faces Fort Atkinson at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 26 at Cambridge High School and faces Evansville on Monday, May 27 at 1 p.m. at Lake Leota in Evansville.
